shapes

April 21st, 2010

This week we have been learning all about shapes in Reception. We have been describing different shapes, looking at corners and sides and saying if they are 2d or 3d.
Can you have a look in your home for some shapes and can you make a comment on the blog to describe what you have found?

Ivan found a cuboid (a box), a sphere (a ball), and a cylinder (a tube). These are all 3D. A piece of paper is 2D.

Lego is lots of different types of shapes – these are mostly 3D but the flat bits are 2D.

Some shapes have straight edges (a cube), some shapes have curved edges (a sphere).
